About
I am Ishan Parmar, a high schooler at Newark Academy. My high school world religions course opened my eyes to the realities of caste discrimination, inspiring me to delve deeper into this issue. During visits to India, I witnessed firsthand the suffering caused by caste-based discrimination. My exposure broadened further through visits to the United Nations, where I met individuals from marginalized communities around the world—like the Roma, Quilombolas, and Osu—who shared similar struggles rooted in discrimination based on work and descent. This journey led me to create the Global Dalit Development Organization, a platform to raise awareness and connect others with pathways for improvement. I hope to play a role in the fight against caste discrimination and to leave a lasting, positive impact on society.
Mission Statement
Before joining the school supported by ADWAN Nepal, I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance to learn. Now, I love going to class every day, and I dream of becoming a teacher to help other girls like me.
Thanks to Mukti India, I get to go to school with my friends. My favorite subject is science because I want to become a doctor one day and help people in my village.
I used to have to work instead of going to school, but now, through the help of NISHTHA, I’m able to study, play, and dream about a brighter future. I’m so thankful for the support.
